Both, obviously, going to work. That’s important, and your work ethic is important. But knowing that a relationship is work. It’s not a fairy tale. It gets better the more time and effort you put into it.”

”I think a lot of it boils down to communication and understanding what each other’s touchpoints are. Understanding, as you grow in relationships, you also understand what baggage each other brings to the relationship, and the past, and your upbringing, and how certain things in the way you were parented affect the way you are and the community you grew up in, and how that affects your beliefs and the way you react to situations. I think there was a big feeling-out process as well.”
