Our Cofounder Jean Oelwang had the great privilege to visit the classroom of the Stephen R. Covey Endowed Professors of Leadership, Lord Dr. Michael Hastings and Boyd Craig. In their series “The World’s Principled Leaders,” they highlighted Nelson Mandela as a morally courageous leader.
Jean spoke with immense gratitude and awe about her time sitting at the feet of Nelson Mandela as he formed The Elders, an international non-governmental organization of senior statesmen who have no other agenda but peace, human rights, and the good of the planet.
Jean shared stories of his incredible courage and conviction for the anti-apartheid movement in South Africa as well as his use of humor and deep friendships that strengthened his effectiveness in achieving audacious goals. She reveled in the chance to hear from the young leaders in the classroom who shared their own perceptions of past and current morally courageous leaders.
