In 1984, Joseph Farman, Brian G. Gardiner, and Jonathan Shanklin, three scientists from British Antarctic Survey, uncovered one of the most important scientific discoveries of the twentieth century, discovering a hole in the ozone layer over the Antarctic caused by CFCs. In 1985, Joe, Jonathan, and Brian published their findings and sparked the moral imperative to fix it.
